The Life of a Fangirl…
It’s time for games and sadly, no, it ain’t A’s games I’m talking about… That will come later, when Pretty Little Liars returns 🙂 Today I will be writing about an awesome game called Mirror’s Edge. It’s really great and really fun and you wanna know what else is really good? The plot! 🙂 Don’t you just love games with a good, dark plot?! 😉 Cause I sure do…
But fistly, you might want to know what the plot actually is, unless you want no spoilers whatsoever (and, if that’s the case, then you definitely should not continue reading this).
The game’s about a runner (I know what you’re all probably thinking, “this ain’t the Maze Runner”, but after a while you don’t even think about it) called Faith whose sister was framed for murder. And the plot’s basically about Faith trying to rescue her, you know, the usual. But let’s get a bit closer…
Faith Connors, a runner, and courier, in the unnamed dystopian City. After a job she learn her sister’s in trouble, being set up for a crime she didn’t commit. The murder of Robert Pope, an old friend of her dads (whom she left with her sister after their mother died in a protest against the corrupt government that would come to be, herself becoming a runner in the process). Faith escapes the blues (that would be the police) to find the people responsible and save her sister (whom stayed behind so that she wouldn’t look even more guilty than she already than she did, and also, she was one of the blues). But saving her sister wasn’t as easy as you’d think and to do so, going to the enemy is a necessary evil. Miller, her sisters partner, is one of them (althogh not really that kind of enemy you’re probably thinking about), no, that would be Jacknife. He and Faith have a past, although sadly, what that past is isn’t revealed in the game. And the sad part is, they don’t get together in the game (I totally ship it!), but I’ll live cause that’s what fanfiction’s for 😉 I haven’t read any yet, but I’ve some I’m gonna look at when I have the time. And well, I’m not gonna spoil the ending, you’ll have to play it yourselves (or just google it, your choice. I’d recommend playing it though…) It’s a great game and even though it ain’t Halo graphic, you won’t care a bit, you won’t even notice it, besides the few clips they show you 🙂 Another great thing about the game is the dialogues, especialy the intro 🙂 I’ll throw it in, just cause it’s so good 😉 (And I know, bad summary… But the game really is awesome!)
Once the city used to pulse with energy. Dirty and dangerous, but alive and wonderful. Now it’s something else. The changes came slowly at first. Most didn’t realize, or didn’t care, and accepted them. They chose a comfortable life. Some didn’t. And those who refused to conform were pushed to the sidelines, criminalized. They became our clients. We call ourselves Runners. We exist on the edge between the gloss and the reality: the mirror’s edge. We keep out of trouble, out of sight, and the cops don’t bother us. Runners see the city in a different way. We see the flow. Rooftops become pathways and conduits, possibilities and routes of escape. The flow is what keeps us running, keeps us alive.
PS! After the game’s success, there was a comic made by Rhianna Pratchett (author) and Matthew Dow Smith (illustrator)! I just found out so I’m really happy right now! 😀 So have a great evening, or night, wherever you are!
